Kauai Update

Yesterday we went on a 4 mile hike to a secluded beach. It was a challenging hike but worth it with all the beautiful scenery. Here are a few pictures from our trip. We went snorkeling today and had a shaved ice with sweetened condensed milk on top, called "snow cap". It was beyond delicious. We are having a blast and enjoying the nice weather and the lazy side of island life. Aloha

What we've been doing so far in Hawaii...

This is one of the many waterfalls on this island. It's called "Opaekaa Falls"

We also tried our first "plate lunch". It was so delicious. I think it was pork, but not 100% sure. Mmmmmmmmmm

I got a little excited and homesick when I saw this...
It is Hayden Mango ice cream. How great is that?!!!

This island is so different than what I expected. One of the most unusual things is there are chickens and roosters wondering around all over the place. They really are beautiful, except when the roosters start crowing at sunrise!!

I have more pictures to download later, but just wanted to give you all a taste of island life. We are having so much fun!!

Thanks Alex, Amanda, Jason and Rachel for watching our little boys so we can take a long need vacation together.

Halloween 08

We had a great time trick-or-treating it up with Jodie's brother Jason and his family. All together we had Henry as Tony Stewart, Hayden was a Sock Monkey and Natalie was a Princess/Angel and Zach was a lion. Great time was had by all, we actually made almost all the way around an entire block.

Henry can't say 'trick or treat' but he has his version of thanks down, its tanks.

Just a preview

Great thanks to Robert G.

Who is this Robert G. you might be asking? Well a little story about this past weekend to set this up. It was your typical Saturday. We took Henry and Hayden to the Winfield Fire Station Open House to see the Fire Trucks. We then went to Nordstrom Rack to get see what deals could be had. I was looking for some work out shoes and Jodie was shopping for the boys. At one point I Had a pile of shoes I was trying on and had the boys in the stroller with my hoodie, hat, wallet and new iphone sitting with our stack. I decided to take back the 5 pair of shoes I had decided against and thought I better push the boys in their stroller while I take them back as I know how sensitive Jodie is about leaving them even if I am just around the corner. So I scooted over there and right back, grabbed my hat, wallet, hoodie and went to go stand in line to get the shoes I had decided to purchase. At this point I realize I didn’t have my phone. I ran back over to where we were sitting and trying things on and it was gone. At this point I ran through my usual thought process of how I lose everything and how my ADD is a curse and how could I have lost my phone. I went through everything I had done since I got to the store, went to the bathroom, went to look for shoes, and tried calling Jodie because I couldn’t find her then over to try shoes on. At this moment I was almost positive that someone had lifted my phone. I usually chalk this kind of stuff up to my carelessness and think I lost it but I was quite certain it was stolen. I went to customer service, tried calling it numerous times, sent a text to it offering a reward for it to be returned. We walked around the store for a bit looking for shady people but with no luck. I left the store feeling very jaded and just so mad at the thought of someone lifting my phone. I also thought how brazen someone must have been to grab it off my pile of things when I had barely stepped away. I decided to not worry about it till Monday as I didn’t want it to ruin my weekend and on a positive note I had a great excuse to not take any calls for the next 2 days.
So on Monday I go to the ATT store to see what it would cost to replace it. Well if you are not a new customer and don’t get the discount for being a new customer a replacement iphone is 600 dollars. OK, now I am jaded and really ticked again.
I go back to work and decide I don’t really want to think about it as it makes me ill.
So, upon returning to work and checking my email I proceed to have the following email dialogue with one Robert G.

Mr. Borg?,

I Found your Iphone. I looked in your email to get your email address. Please give me mailing instructions and I will drop it in the mail...

I overheard a couple of punks with it, my cousin is a cop and he whipped his badge out. They got scared and gave it to us after he threatened to take them in. I would want the same thing if I lost my phone...

You don't have to compensate me.

Where do you want me to send it??

You drop the shipping charge in my paypal account under my name.. I can send it whenever you'd like...
Robert G.

So, Thanks to a couple good Samaritans. I have been grinning ear to ear since I got this last email. I am so grateful to know that there are still people that speak up to make sure that right thing is done.
